About the Book:
Eleven-year-old Colm has just spent what he thinks is the worst fortnight of his life in the company of his older cousin, The Brute. He's about to find out that things can get an awful lot worse. Due to a flight mix-up and an unnecessary road trip, Colm, his parents and The Brute end up as the only guests in a three-hundred-year-old hotel - a hotel with dark and dangerous secrets.
When they meet Lauryn, a young American, The Brute is smitten, but Colm has other things on his mind. He finds out that some of the hotel’s previous occupants have met a mysterious, yet grisly, end, which may be linked to an ancient curse, a curse he may have accidentally set in motion once again.
And there are questions to be answered:
Who is the tall, thin man hiding out in the hotel and what is he doing there?
Why are there no other guests?
What could Lauryn possibly see in The Brute?
Where have Colm's parents gone?
Why is the world's most wanted criminal spending time in a small Irish town?
And most importantly, what is the Lazarus Key?
Colm has to solve the mystery of the key, stop the curse, and generally do his best to avoid death. And he has less than twelve hours in which to do it.
